Last time (and the first time) I saw Conjurer was at ArcTanGent this August. Before that, I didn’t really know who they were, hearing them for the first time by listening to a playlist on Spotify. But I remember loving the energy at their show on Thursday of ArcTanGent. The settings were not perfect as it was pissing down with rain the whole time, and I was definitely not on the sober side. So, I was excited to experience their music in a more mellow setting of a small venue.
I was meant to go with Kotek, but alas, the tickets sold out before they were able to get a ticket. I’ve been dealing with a headache for the whole day and was not looking forward to the hour commute from my parents’ house. I was not in the mood to go out, and I was glad that the stage times were posted so I decided to get there for 9pm- I would see the last support band and have enough time to get comfortable for the headliner.
And do I regret getting there so late. Earth Moves were already playing when I got there, and I’ve realised that I should make more effort to see the support bands even if I don’t know them. Because obviously, if they’re support bands, they’ll be of similar sound to the one of Conjurer and I will most likely enjoy them.
Conjurer were great themselves, and I’m glad that seeing them live this time was just as great as seeing them at ArcTanGent. I was filled with good memories from the festival, half wishing that the people I met there were with me. But seeing gigs on your own is great too, even though it still makes me anxious. I wish I was braver and went closer to the stage, maybe even join a mosh pit. However, I get too worried about losing my things, as I didn’t leave my coat in the cloakroom, and I didn’t have anyone to give my stuff to.
I absolutely loved the energy this band had on stage- you can tell they do it with passion. I’m not a pro music reviewer so I don’t really know how else to tell you that this band is great. If you like extreme metal, you might like these guys too. And if not, you can definitely appreciate their enthusiasm and their ability to put on a great show. I love seeing great relationship between fans and the band on stage, and excitement from both sides.
